* Watch for Adolescent and Young Adult groups
Positive social support is a critical component to developing into a healthy adult, and group therapy can be an effective way to meet teens where they’re most comfortable ~ in a small setting with like-minded peers. A confidential structured atmosphere where young people can be emotionally open, share stories and encouragement, leads to important shifts in their lives. These shifts are often more difficult to achieve through individual therapy alone.
Groups are lively, popular and enthusiastically attended by young people with a variety of backgrounds and life challenges. Some topics addressed include navigating relationships, conflict management, social skill building, identity and self worth issues, creativity and personal growth, life goals and motivation. Participants gain positive insight from other individuals completely free of judgment and ultimately walk away once a week having learned something new about themselves. Most people who are initially hesitant or anxious about taking part in a group end up making important connections with others and willingly attend on a regular basis.
